Newsletter platform Substack partners with Bitcoin (BTC-USD) payment processor, OpeNode, to allow Substack subscription payments in the form of Bitcoin using the Lightning Network and on-chain/off-chain. Substack, is a crowdsourced online publisher thatprovides publishing, payment, analytics, and design infrastructure; the company, founded four years ago, has over half a million subscribers, according to Bitcoin Magazine. Two out of the top five paid business newsletters on Substack are focused on Bitcoin (BTC-USD), OpenNode reports, citing Backlinko. Well-known crypto enthusiasts like Willy Woo and Dan Held are on the Substack platform. "Having this option will give writers more flexibility and freedom, and we look forward to doing more in crypto as our users demand it," commented Nick Inzucchi, product designer at Substack. The news follows other efforts to make cryptocurrency, and Bitcoin in particular, more like currency so consumers can use it for purchases. In March, PayPal added a "Checkout with Crypto" feature
