Metromile will allow customers to pay premiums, get claims in bitcoin

In addition to paying for your Tesla in bitcoin, you'll also be able to insure it with the cryptocurrency.Metromile ([[MILE]] -6.6%), the digital platform that offers pay-per-mile auto insurance, will soon give policyholders the option to pay for premiums or receive payment for claims in bitcoins.The company will buy $10M of bitcoin in Q2 2021 to prepare for the policyholders who choose to transact in the cryptocurrency."We are still in the early days of realizing how this shift to decentralized finance and cryptocurrency will create enduring advantages in insurance, but we believe that offering bitcoin as an option for premium and claims payments would be an important first step," said Metromile CEO Dan Preston.The company said it will work with regulators to address any concerns.The insurer adds to a clutch of other businesses that say they'll accept bitcoin for payment, including Camping World, Sunstock, and PayPal.
