United Wholesale Mortgage plans to accept crypto payments later this year

United Wholesale Mortgage (NYSE:UWMC) is planning to accept cryptocurrency for mortgage payments in Q3. "We've evaluated the feasibility, and we're looking forward to being the first mortgage company in America to accept cryptocurrency to satisfy mortgage payments," UWMC CEO Mat Ishbia said on the company's earnings conference call on Monday. "That's something that we've been working on, and we're excited that hopefully, in Q3, we can actually execute on that before anyone in the country ..." The company plans to start with Bitcoin (BTC-USD), though its also looking at Ethereum (ETH-USD) and others, Ishbia told the Detroit Free Press.
