Bitcoin breakout? Price of the cryptocurrency pushes above $45K

Despite an apparent big regulatory loss in D.C., the price of bitcoin (BTC-USD) has broken out to a multi-month high of $45.8K. Ether (ETH-USD) has done the same, now trading at $3,125. To review, the massive infrastructure bill set to be passed by Congress contains language which could define the word "broker" to mean not just brokers, but nearly anyone involved with cryptocurrencies. The reporting requirements the bill would impose on "brokers" might mean the end of cryptocurrency mining and development in the U.S., if some of the more dramatic descriptions are to be believed. Even those on utter opposites of the political spectrum are finding themselves in bed together, with Galaxy Digital's (OTCPK:BRPHF) Mike Novogratz agreeing with Ted Cruz's description from late Sunday that "Crypto got screwed tonight."
